Grasses and Sedges

This page will be used for our Plant Sales. You can use it now just for information on these plants. No order is possible at this time.

Grasses are a significant part of a pollinator garden. An ideal percentage is 50% grasses and 50% native wildflowers. They are host plants for many skippers and provide overwintering shelter for insects like bumble bee queens. Birds love their seeds. They are also very deep-rooted, which adds a lot of organic matter to the soil and therefore improves water infiltration and erosion control. Grasses are low maintenance, weed suppressing, add winter interest and can even serve as a privacy screen.
