Wild columbine grows to heights of 30 - 60 cm, and has red (with yellow) flowers that bloom from May to July.
Found in woodlands and on rocky slopes.
Flowering coincides with the return of hummingbirds and their nectar provides them with important high quality energy food.
Early nectar for bumblebees and other early emerging bees.
Growing conditions:
Variable, very easy to grow in full sun to shade, dry to
moist soil, rocky, sandy or rich soil.
